I'm tired of being ripped off at the pump just because of where I live. Prices in Northern Michigan are up to .50 cents more per gallon than Southern Michigan near the state line.

I understand. We live in SW Greensboro, NC and it is always more expensive to buy gas than North or West Greensboro. The North and West areas are some of the most expensive houses in Greensboro. This makes no sense!

Maybe it costs more for the tankers to go up to Northern Michigan. That would explain the difference in gas prices. Look into it and get back to us. We are all interested in this anomoly you have discovered.

Missouri and New Jersey are the cheapest priced states. Move there.

All I can say is that you choose where you live. If you do not like it, move or quite whining.

Move to Southern Michigan. Do I have to think of everything around here?

That's a really high variation for one state.

Of course you are paying more. It takes longer to truck the gas up to you guys in the North. Move to the south of the state and enjoy better gas prices. Better yet, move to Texas and you'll think you are in gasoline heaven.

Sounds like someone should manage their personal finances better so they don't have to cry to the internet.

do you travel to south Michigan for work/errands? then time your fuel fillups to get the cheaper price

that's what i do with central vs southern NJ... they tend to be cheaper the further south you go; with the exception of some certain central jersey stations

h[

I's easy to say you're being "ripped off at the pump", but who is ripping you off? the gas station or the gas station operator?

If that's what you're saying, then are you also saying that the local (northern Michigan) gas stations have a significantly higher mark-up per gallon than gas stations in southern Michigan? Have you documented that?

And, because the gas station business is so competitive, drivers will go out of their way to save a penny a gallon on the price that gas stations post so prominently in order to attract you from doing business with the other gas station, probably next door or down the street, are you saying that gas stations are working to keep prices high, rather than being competitive and trying to "take" business/customers from the competition?

Sorry, but you'll have to do more than simply say you're being "ripped off."

Do other things balance it out? Like property tax, insurance etc? Maybe it is the population and/or distance to terminal.

Come to western Canada and you'll be paying well over $5 a gallon.
